The Optum Pro Cycling presented by Kelly Benefit Strategies cyclo-cross team tackled races in Bend, OR and Boulder, CO this weekend, led by a dominant two-victory performance from Jade Wilcoxson at Bend’s Cross Crusade, and podiums for Carmen Small and Amanda Miller at the Boulder Cup.

Wilcoxson, racing solo in Bend, dominated both days of racing, lapping the entire field on day one to claim an emphatic victory. She donned a custom caterpillar skinsuit for Sunday’s costume race, once again handily beating the competition. With the first year ‘cross rider and Oregon resident Wilcoxson keeping it local for the weekend, the rest of her Optum p/b KBS teammates tackled Colorado’s UCI ranked Boulder Cup in front of thousands of enthusiastic spectators.
Amanda Miller finished 3rd on the first day of racing in Boulder, chased home by teammate Carmen Small in fourth. Small continued her momentum on the second day of racing, battling to a second place finish – her first UCI ‘cross podium. Miller, who suffered an untimely mechanical on the final lap, hung tough for a 5th place finish.
Huge crowds came out in Boulder on the exciting CLIF sponsored UCI course.
The men’s team performed solidly in Boulder, placing three riders in the top-15 on the first day of racing. On day two, Tristan Schouten raced aggressively, battling with an elite 7-rider group for control on the challenging course. Schouten was relentless, building a gap on his chasers for several laps before being slowly reeled in. Alex Candelario and Schouten finished fifth and sixth, respectively, and the pair continues to show rapidly improving form in the dirt.
