The Team Sends Small Squad to the Tour of the Dragons

While Optum p/b KBS’ men and women have both won stages at the Tour of the Gila this week, the team is also fielding a small team in Vermont this weekend. Jeremy Durrin and Scott Zwizanski will tackle the 2013 Tour of the Dragons presented by Anthem Sports and the Stan’s Notubes Great American Cycling Series. While Jeremy is just starting to build his road fitness after a long cross season, Scott Zwizanski is using the Tour of the Dragons as his final preparation for the Amgen Tour of California. The race starts off with a 10.7 mile time trial that should suit TT specialist Zwizanski. Scott will be using the newly designed Orbea Ordu time trial bike for the first time in Vermont. After the time trial on Saturday, the guys will tackle the 64.9 mile Shaftsbury Circuit Race. Sunday is a brutal 125 mile road race with over 10,000 feet of climbing and several sections of dirt road.

“It’s not often in the US that we have 1 day road races that are 200 kilometers long with 10,000 feet of climbing. It should be an amazing race and great test for our guys. This is a nice way for Zwiz to prepare himself for the upcoming Tour of California”, commented Jonas Carney.
