Haga, Zirbel Blaze to Top Ten Finishes in Alberta Opener

Chad Haga and Tom Zirbel showed off some blazing speed in the Alberta prologue yesterday, finishing 6th and 9th, respectively. They were the only non-ProTour ranked riders in the top ten, and the only continental ranked finishers in the top twenty. Peter Sagan surprised some who thought the Slovakian star would wait for the sprints to attack, beating out Rohan Dennis (Team Garmin-Sharp) by 13 seconds to claim the yellow jersey on the 7.3 km. course in Edmonton.

The result puts Haga in great position alongside his teammates in what will be a tight battle for the general classification. The team is focused on keeping Haga and Zirbel near the top of the overall standings while attacking several opportunities at a field sprint in the coming days for Eric Young and Ken Hanson.
