Women Finish Tour de l’Ardeche, Begin Final Preparations for Worlds

The women’s team raced in France’s UCI 2.2 ranked Tour de l’Ardeche last week, a seven-day stage race covering over 400 miles through the picturesque southern region of France. The team faced stiff competition, riding against some of the best teams of the European circuit. Although results for the week were not as they had hoped, the race served as excellent preparation for their ultimate focus of the trip, the upcoming World Championship Team Time Trial in Ponferrada, Spain.

“It was a tough race and they rode hard all week but a win just wasn’t in the cards for us. We had a couple mechanicals along the way that played against us a bit too much. Janel was on course for a top ten finish in GC but had an unfortunate crash in stage 4. Jade did her best to get her back but they were too far out by the time they got rolling again. We’re all looking forward to worlds and Ardeche was the perfect training for it. ” said Performance Director Kevin Field.

Lauren Hall to Race for Team USA in World Championship Road Race

Lauren Hall has been chosen alongside six elite riders to represent Team USA for the road race in Ponferrada. Hall, who won one of Europe’s biggest one day races earlier this year at Gent-Wevelgem, will join Evelyn Stevens, Shelley Olds, Megan Guarnier, Alison Powers, Mara Abbott, and Carmen Small to contest the rainbow jersey in Spain.

“Its an honor to be selected to represent Team USA in addition to racing with my Optum teammates at worlds,” said Hall.
